Spotlight on SUNY Libraries **Double Feature** - Google Analytics Online
Join Nicole Westerdahl (SUNY Oswego), and Jill Locasio (SUNY Optometry) for a pair of engaging presentations about how they are using Google Analytics in SUNY Libraries.
Presentation One: Is Anyone Even Reading This? Using Google Analytics to Improve Outreach Efforts with Nicole Westerdahl
Description: We all know the feeling: we put so much effort into crafting the perfect ad, or flyer, or blog post, and then...nothing. How do we know if our message is reaching our audience? At SUNY Oswego, we use Google Analytics to assess the success of our outreach efforts and prioritize our most popular channels--and ease some of the burden of labor on our outreach folks! I will explain how we developed and implemented our Google Analytics campaigns and used the data to make informed decisions. I will also share our successes and challenges and tips for using Google Analytics in your own institution's outreach.
Presentation Two: When Alma/Primo Analytics Isn't Enough: Using Google Analytics for a More Complete View of User Behavior with Jill Locasio
Description: While Alma/Primo Analytics can be a powerful tool to gain insight into user behavior, it has limitations that get in the way of providing a full picture of how our users interact with our systems. Google Analytics is a robust reporting tool that can help fill in the gaps left by Alma/Primo Analytics. This presentation will discuss how SUNY Optometry uses Google Analytics/Google Tag Manager to not only gather usage information unavailable through Alma/Primo Analytics, but also to troubleshoot eresource issues, and gain deeper insight into Primo VE.
